Elizabeth Cornell Afrakomah Awuku is a Ghanaian native who graduated with a B.Sc. in Mathematics with Economics from the University of Cape Coast and an M.Sc. in Mathematical Sciences from the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) in Ghana, under the supervision of Dr. Philip Knight. She gained an interest in computational neuroscience while working on her master’s thesis, which she applied to find certain hierarchical patterns in C. elegans brain and gallery of cubitermes termite nests. Now, she is a pre-doctoral intern under ther Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience in Berlin. During her stay in Berlin, she seeks to understand the relation of dynamics and network connectivity structure of recurrent neural networks when completing a task. Video games, anime, and cooking are among Cornell’s hobbies.
